Nearly a thousand years ago, the domain of Nevareth suffered almost unimaginable devastation when a nefarious entity known as the Cabal unleashed its destructive fury in an attempt to eliminate all humanity. The flourishing land was soon rendered bleak and barren. The few who managed to stay alive were scattered widely across its breadth. Their situation seemed beyond all hope until seven great masters emerged. Wielding the ancient abilities of the Force Power, they were able to stem the dark tide. Under their protection, the survivors rebuilt their shattered society. Unfortunately, even though evil may be pushed back, it has a way of conserving itself until the opportunity arises to strike again. Such an occasion has arrived. Once again, the threat of total annihilation looms. It is a time for new heroes to come forward and to craft their destinies.
In cabal alz, players are charged with defending Nevareth and its citizens from a horrid fate. To do so, they must rekindle the knowledge and teachings of the past, which have become neglected and forgotten over the course of centuries. Developed by ESTsoft, the game is targeted to launch in North America within the next few months as a free to play offering from regional publisher OGPlanet. When it does, we'll be able to join the battle by creating characters within six classes including Warrior, Blader, Wizard, Force Archer, Force Shielder and Force Blader. The gameworld in which we'll adventure is said to encompass regions ranging from frozen wastes to arid deserts, all filled with imposing monsters. To learn about these and other elements in detail, we got the chance to question Executive Producer David Hoffman and colleague Sean Mackay.

Jonric: How would you describe the overall nature of cabal alz combat system? How actively does it involve the players? What forms of PvP are supported?
David Hoffman: It's two-fold, really. We have a system where players click on icons and their characters will auto-attack and defend. Personally, I am more hands-on, and the cabal alz developers took players like me on into account and developed a system where you can turn this off and have complete control over your attacks and defense. In order to make this more in-depth, we designed a combo system that rewards the player for performing a series of moves upon enemies.
